• There are no defined evaluation components for these sessions.

• Participants will assist with preparing the boat to depart and arrive safely back on a mooring, setting and stowing sails while safely moving around the boat. 

• Sessions will typically end with a conversation with participants about what was learned and what the next steps should be if acquiring more sailing experience be desired.

• These single-session programs will be offered on Saturdays by appointment.

Option 2
Start Keelboat Sailing:
This will be a series of Saturday sessions; the course will be 4 weeks long starting in July with another series starting in August.

• To include both on-water and on-land instruction, totaling approximately 14-hours over 4 weeks.

• The emphasis of this course is on the fundamentals of sailing. Candidates completing this standard will be able to competently contribute as crew to the operation of a keelboat in moderate daytime conditions.

• Acquisition of sailing skills will take place in a relaxed environment under the guidance of Sail Canada certified sailing instructors.

• Skills include sailing terminology, awareness of weather and wind, knot tying, points of sail and sail trim, maneuvering under power and sail as both skipper and crew.

• Ideally, this course is for those with a little prior sailing experience who wish to build upon their basic sailing skills regarding operation of a keelboat, but all are welcome.

• Because of limited availability, this program will be capped at 4 students per session. 

• $350.00 CAD per 4-week session
